So, our pets may experience the same benefits that humans do when we take CBD. They are more bright-eyed, move better, eat better, and just look and act happier.

If you love CBD, it’s time to get to know CBG (cannabigerol), one of more than 100 non-intoxicating cannabinoids found in hemp plants. CBG, like CBD, offers similar benefits to the mind and body including immune support and relief of muscle soreness. CBG may brighten your mood, promote a healthy inflammation response and help address occasional nausea.

While CBG may be new to you, medical researchers have studied the therapeutic potential of CBG for a number of years. This cannabinoid is the subject of preliminary studies on a host of chronic conditions, including autism, colon cancer, multiple sclerosis, Huntington’s Disease, and others.

Our two new tinctures contain isolated CBG, which you can try on its own or combined with full-spectrum CBD oil or tincture. Both are available in 15 ml or 60 ml sizes containing 50 mg CBG/ml. We also offer a 5 gram bulk CBG isolate to make your own tinctures or edibles. Don’t forget, we always offer a 90-day return policy so there’s no excuse not to try it and see if it helps!

If you’re new to CBG, consider starting with our CBG:CBD Full Spectrum Tincture. Research shows synergistic qualities among these compounds that allow them to work better than when they are alone, dubbed the “entourage effect.” Based on anecdotal evidence, a partnership between CBG and CBD seems to offer effectiveness for maintaining a healthy systemic response to inflammation, maintaining a sense of calm and supporting recovering following exercise. In preliminary studies, evidence also suggests CBG and CBD may support healthy immune and digestive functions.

The Mother of all Cannabinoids: CBG

During early growing stages, Cannabis sativa plants contain high concentrations of cannabigerolic acid, CBGA, before THC or CBD are present. As the plant matures, CBGA is converted to THCA,  tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, as well as CBDA, cannabidiolic acid, and CBCA, cannabichromenic acid. Because of its key role in biosynthesis for other cannabinoids, cannabigerolic acid is considered “The Mother of Cannabinoids.”

Much work remains to understand fully how the body uses cannabinoids to support organ functions and wellness via its endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS, discovered in the 1990s, exists throughout the bodies of humans, and all other animals, including birds, fish, and invertebrates such as leeches and nematodes.

Medical researchers know cannabinoids interact with people via the ECS’ complex network of receptors that provide homeostatic balance to the nervous and immune systems, as well as many other organ systems.

CBG interacts with both known sets of receptors of the ECS. They are called CB1 and CB2 and are believed to be linked with most of the body’s systems, including the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system, as well as  the immune system. In humans, these receptors are abundant in the brain, immune cells, bone, liver, pancreas, skeletal muscle, blood vessels, kidneys, gastrointestinal and fatty tissue.

Tinctures and capsules are among the most popular ways of taking CBD. Both are available in many different potencies and offer additional benefits when combined with functional ingredients. Understandably, that can be overwhelming.

Here’s an overview of both tinctures and capsules to help comfortably and effectively add CBD to your way of life.

How CBD products are made

At Lazarus Naturals, we formulate our CBD products utilizing either “full spectrum” extract or isolated CBD. The main difference between the two being: “full spectrum” refers to an extract which contains CBD in conjunction with the other hemp derivatives and compounds in as close to their natural proportions as possible; and, “isolate” refers to CBD isolated from all other compounds found in the hemp plant. Both begin with an ethanol extraction process and isolate requires more refinement steps. At Lazarus Naturals, we make both full spectrum and isolate tinctures, capsules, pet products and a complete line of topicals including body & massage oil, balms and lotions

What Are CBD Tinctures?

Tinctures are one of the most traditional vehicles for taking CBD. They are a liquid form of a plant, supplement, or remedy. In our case, the CBD is separated from hemp using an ethanol extraction process. Our tinctures are all oil-based. Once purchased, tinctures typically last one to two years.

The benefits of CBD tinctures

With CBD tinctures, you can easily customize your serving. This is especially helpful early on in your CBD journey when you’re searching for the right balance. Tinctures taken sublingually may absorb more quickly than simple ingestion as there may be transmission through the capillary-rich areas under the tongue, bypassing the digestive system and liver.

Flavored tinctures like Blood Orange, French Vanilla and Standard Potency full spectrum tincture pair well with food and beverages like soups, pasta, coffee, tea and smoothies. Check out some of the delicious ways you can match Lazarus Naturals tinctures with your favorite foods!

How to use tinctures

With CBD tinctures, you can adjust the serving size using a graduated dropper. Our droppers are clearly marked in 0.25/ml increments. Try starting out with 0.25ml or ¼ of a serving and work up from there. Over a period of days or even weeks, increase the amount of CBD by 0.25ml to find a daily routine that works for you.Take a serving to get you going or at the end of the day to support restful sleep.

Our tinctures typically contain twice the amount of CBD for half the price of our competition because we often hear from our customers that once they found the right amount for them, they were able to more fully experience the benefits of CBD. It’s just one of the many ways we make CBD that’s accessible for all who need it.

What are CBD capsules?

Capsules are made with either full spectrum extract or CBD isolate. Once dried, all the ingredients are carefully packed into capsules to ensure consolidated and precise servings. To keep tight control on our quality, we carefully formulate our CBD capsules in-house. All of our capsules are vegan and gluten-free, with no artificial flavors, sweeteners or preservatives.

The benefits of CBD capsules

Convenience and the precision of a serving are a big reason for choosing capsules. If you already take a multivitamin, adding CBD capsules to what you’re taking is an easy way to start and/or end the day.

How to take capsules

If you’re new to CBD, we recommend starting with 10mg capsules, which contain the least amount of CBD. Increase the serving as needed. You can also switch to more potent capsules or try CBD with functional ingredients like Rhodiola and caffeine to support energy or a combination of Ashwagandha and L-Tryptophan help you relax in the evening.

Choosing high quality CBD tinctures and capsules

When choosing any CBD product, it’s important to research the company. At Lazarus Naturals, we do it all. From our farm to your front door, aside from the delivery truck. That’s how we are able to deliver consistent, high-quality and effective products. There’s no secret to our approach. From the organic hemp we farm to our ever-growing family of products, we focus on consistency and sustainability. As pioneers in the CBD industry, we’ve learned how to do things right and make it our mission to pass that on to you by keeping prices down and potency high.

All Lazarus Naturals products undergo third-party testing to ensure quality, safety, and consistency. Test results can be viewed by clicking the Test Results tab on each individual product page on our website.

Talk With Your Doctor

We always recommend consulting with your doctor before trying CBD. They can discuss correct serving sizes and benefits with you, as well as identify how CBD might interact with any medications you’re currently taking.

Which form of CBD is right for me?

In terms of effectiveness, both CBD capsules and tinctures offer the same benefits. It’s a matter of preference and how fast you feel the results. Both methods are available in many different potencies, flavors and tailored benefits. Much depends on your lifestyle, your comfort level and your reason for choosing CBD.

Take your time finding a routine and serving size that works for you and your body. Tinctures are versatile and allow for nuanced serving sizes. Capsules are convenient and precise.

Let us know how it’s going. We’re always eager to hear about your experience with CBD tinctures and capsules, especially our products. Share our approach. Drop us a line in the comments section and be sure to follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a chemical compound in hemp and cannabis plants that is making big waves among health and wellness-minded individuals.

CBD interacts with our body on a molecular level. There is a system of microscopic cannabinoid receptors inside of every person and animal, this is known as The Endocannabinoid System (ECS). The Endocannabinoid System is one of the most recent biological discoveries to completely revolutionize our understanding of the human body. The system is a collection of microscopic cannabinoid receptors spread throughout our peripheral and central nervous systems which interacts with cannabinoids, including tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) or cannabidiol (CBD), as well as the endogenous cannabinoids that are produced by our own bodies. These receptors bind with cannabinoids once they enter the bloodstream and can elicit various effects — THC can famously get you “high,” for example, whereas CBD is non-intoxicating and has instead been popularized for its more subtle effects.

What does it do?

In the case of CBD, much has yet to be learned about its effects. Many people advocate for CBD product use as a key part of their daily routine to maintain a sense of equilibrium and to support healthy function of body and mind.

However, we must also note that the FDA has not reinforced these claims so far, and the federal prohibition of cannabis makes further cannabinoid research nearly impossible (even using hemp, which was re-legalized in 2018).

Are there any side-effects?

CBD has minimal direct side-effects, the most commonly reported of which include:

  • Drowsiness
  • Dry mouth
  • Low blood pressure
  • Light-headedness

This compound, however, can pose a significant health risk when combined with certain prescription medications or other drugs, like alcohol. Always check with your doctor before experimenting with CBD, especially if you are taking any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.

Delivery methods

If you’re interested in trying CBD, you’ll need to familiarize yourself with the cannabinoid’s various delivery methods. The most common CBD products are usually an extract or oil, sometimes in tincture form. Tinctures are the one of the most popular methods as they are taken sublingually and are absorbed faster, also by using a dropper, you can create a serving that is more accurately tailored to you. There are also CBD tablets and lozenges or, if oral consumption is out of the question, CBD topicals, salves, transdermal patches, and even suppositories are growing in popularity.

No matter what your goals are in the new year, the team at Lazarus Naturals is ready to help you succeed! We remain committed in the new year (and beyond) to delivering high-quality CBD products and helping customers make informed decisions.

The first step is to avoid being a “resolutioner” who gives up on their promise for more self-care. Shorter days and colder weather can make it difficult to find motivation in the winter months. We often put ourselves last when this happens. Luckily, our CBD products and resources make it easy to take care of yourself in the new year.

Arming yourself with knowledge is crucial to successfully accomplishing all of your resolutions. The blog posts below contain information that’s valuable for both experienced CBD enthusiasts and first-time users.
