CBD and adorable animals: Together at last and for a worthy cause.
Lazarus Naturals supports The Pixie Project, a non-profit animal adoption center and rescue based in Portland, OR. The Pixie Project was founded 11 years ago and provides a variety of services including pet adoption, pet owner education and low-cost or free spay and neuter. They also offer veterinary services for homeless and low-income pet owners through their low-cost veterinary clinic.
Lazarus Naturals recently donated 100 bottles of our CBD Pet Tincture to The Pixie Project. Amy Sacks, Founder and Executive Director of The Pixie Project, has been using CBD products on animals at the shelter and has given them to her own dog for the last several years.
“We definitely use it for senior animals and dogs that are transitioning from one home to another. I also think more pet owners are also using CBD in general,” she said. “CBD wasn’t really something that was talked about even a few years ago, let alone when I was growing up in Portland.”
Amy believes that even more pet owners will soon become aware of the benefits of CBD pet products and begin incorporating it into the lives of their four-legged friends.
“A tangible result [for animals] using CBD is harder to show because we haven’t been studying it long enough, but I personally feel that it provides comfort to the animals,” she said.
Throughout his time in the industry, Dylan has performed the role of salesman, processing technician, project manager, and interim roles in marketing and finance. Today, as VP of Government Affairs at Lazarus Naturals, he primarily assists with navigating the policy and compliance realms on federal and state levels—interfacing with various boards, committees, and associations concerning industrial hemp and lobbying efforts. In his role as the founding member and President of the Association of Western Hemp Professionals, he advocates with business allies across five states for hemp and hemp-adjacent operations. As a technical advisor, he recently was able to help land a historic $10 million grant from the USDA that will help define economic opportunities for hemp in the western United States. As an invaluable generalist, Dylan serves as the Director on the board of the Industrial Hemp Association of Washington in addition to representing us on the Cannabis Committee of the American Herbal Products Association.
