In the largely unregulated CBD industry, a company’s reputation depends on much more than the intention of their products or experiences of their customers. When industries lack explicit rules and standards of operation—be it due to their nascency or regulatory carelessness—there will always be “bad players” prioritizing profits over people. This puts the onus on “good players” to demonstrate commitment to providing a safe and reputable product. 

At Lazarus Naturals, our mission is to make high quality, effective CBD available to anyone and everyone who wants it. We understand that our success hinges entirely upon the successes of our loyal customers. If they (meaning you, dear reader) can find comfort and relief through our products, we have the satisfaction of knowing we’re doing a good job.

However, we don’t expect you to take our word for it. We’ve been hard at work to not only make the products you know and love, but to also have our processes verified through many different reputable, third-party organizations. Just as you wouldn’t want to submit a finals paper or major job application without someone you trust looking it over, we realize that these certifications are a vital step not to be overlooked in providing our customers the best possible CBD experience.

Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) Certification

Lazarus Naturals is extremely proud to announce that our Portland-based manufacturing facility is current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) compliant—which means our facility passed a third-party audit for adherence to the FDA’s production standards. 

These standards are set in place to prevent the “bad actors” from cutting corners and employing unsafe business practices that jeopardize the safety, consistency, and efficacy of their products.

B Corp Certification

Lazarus Naturals is also proud to be recognized as a B Corp certified institution—meaning we were audited and approved as a company that prioritizes the wellbeing of people over its profits. While we may not be the first CBD brand to earn recognition, we scored higher than most of our competitors with a B Impact Score of 88.3! We rated particularly high on issues of environment and taking care of employees.

Certified Kosher

Lazarus Naturals tinctures have been certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union (OU), which is the world’s largest kosher certification agency. With that verification, we can safely guarantee that all certified products are made using ingredients and production processes in compliance with the standards of Jewish dietary law. This certification was an incredibly important step for us in our mission of making high quality CBD as accessible as possible.

Cruelty Free

We also recognize the importance of compassionate shopping; thus have secured certifications from the Leaping Bunny Program, which represents a longstanding coalition of animal advocacy groups like the Humane Society of the United States, Animal Alliance of Canada, Cruelty Free International, and others. Select balms (Fragrance Free and Relax + Unwind for example) are Leaping Bunny certified—as well as our lotions, massage oil, and coconut oil.

USDA Certified Organic

In 2020, we harvested our third hemp crop on our 120-acre farm in central Oregon—but in an exciting twist, that crop was also our first harvest to be USDA Certified Organic! For years now, “organic hemp” has been a lofty (but unfortunately impossible) claim in America—as the official organic certification could only be issued by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Yet as a federal agency of the federal government, the USDA was blocked due to prohibition (until fairly recently) from even recognizing state-legal hemp farms—let alone certifying them.

As we now convert our latest harvest into the products you know and trust, keep an eye out for the coveted USDA Certified Organic badge on many of our hemp-derived CBD products, including oil tinctures, massage oil, and coconut oil! We are currently undergoing the final steps of having manufacturing and production processes verified through Oregon Tilth, a certifying agent of the USDA’s organic program.

We’re proud to operate our hemp farm with organic growing practices, which play a large part in growing the highest quality hemp possible—along with the ideal climate and soil conditions that come with the fertile haven we call home along the “45th parallel.” We are passionate about our practices benefiting local air, soil, and water—it enables us to be better neighbors and stewards of the beautiful land we share.
