New Poll Shows One In Seven Americans Use CBD

A new Gallup poll highlights that more Americans are using CBD than ever before. Their latest poll indicates that one in seven Americans (14%) use hemp-derived CBD products.
Perhaps the most surprising poll finding is that CBD users are skewing younger. Among the Americans who use CBD, 20% are between ages 18-29. The second-most popular age demographic for CBD is ages 30-49 (16%), followed by ages 50-64 (11%) and over age 65 (8%).
The West coast is the most popular region for CBD (21%). Following just behind is the South (13%), Midwest (11%) and East coast (11%). Click here for the findings.
The most encouraging sign from the poll is that CBD use will likely increase in the coming years. Approximately 35 percent of Americans are currently unfamiliar with CBD products. However, their increased exposure in the marketplace due to the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill could impact this.
Other Gallup Polls
A Gallup poll from this May also echoes similar results. The poll shows that two-thirds of Americans know what CBD oil is. Approximately 39% of those surveyed also believe it should be available over the counter.

Recent internet searches also highlight the increased popularity of CBD. CannabisMD’s Knowledge Navigator, a backend tool that surveys consumer trends, shows searches for CBD have surpassed searches for Beyonce. CBD overtook Beyonce in internet search popularity in April 2018. The frequency of CBD searches also surpass those for Kim Kardashian, kale and veganism. Click here for the findings.
The growing use of CBD continues to be reflected by an increase in CBD sales. A recent Brightfield Group analysis shows that CBD sales will see a 700% increase in 2019 compared to last year. They also predict that the CBD market will reach $23.7 billion by 2023.
