What Are The Benefits Of CBD Beauty Products?

From shampoos to soaps, CBD beauty products are popping up in stores nationwide. Many people are now looking to use these products, but are they safe and do they still provide the same benefits of CBD oil?

"The beauty industry represents a tremendous amount of global capital changing hands year over year, and all indications are that the industry is set to continue to grow as consumers continue to push for novel, effective, and sustainable products,” said Justin Amesbury, Director of Research and Development at Lazarus Naturals. “According to Reuters, the cosmetics and beauty industry was valued at $532 billion dollars in 2017, and that figure is expected to grow to $805 billion by 2023.”

Research On Benefits Of CBD Beauty Products

There is limited research on this topic due to the classification of hemp as a Schedule I substance prior to the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill. Several published studies have confirmed the benefits that CBD oil can have on cannabinoid receptors in the skin, but all of these studies also advised that more research is needed.

A 2009 study with mice, published in the journal Future Medical Chemistry, showed some instances of “cannabinoids upregulating T-regulatory cells as a method of suppressing inflammatory responses.” Scientists at the University of Colorado also suggested in 2017 that the anti-inflammatory of cannabinoids would make CBD oil “an alternative, natural product [to] try” removing eczema symptoms.

Researchers out of Hungary wrote that “due to the combined lipostatic, anti-proliferative and anti-inflammatory effects, CBD has potential as a promising therapeutic agent for the treatment of acne.” Their findings were published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation in 2014.

How To Use CBD Beauty Products

There is not a standard serving size when it comes to using CBD beauty products. We recommend consulting with a doctor and doing more research on this topic on your own. You should typically apply a small amount for first-time use and adjust as needed.

We always advise consumers to adhere to the directions on labels for proper usage and review the ingredients list. Some CBD beauty products contain additional ingredients such as plant extracts or herbs that individual consumers may be allergic to.
